Access to Independence Promotes Independent Living And Full Inclusion Of People With Disabilities Into The Community.
The privilege of obtaining Adobe software from TechSoup has enabled our organization to create powerful flyers, brochures, newsletters, and website images to more effectively communicate our critical message to our consumers (clients); and for this we are grateful.
More than fifty-one percent of our staff and board are people with disabilities, we are a diverse cross-disability and cross-culture organization; we never charge for our services, and we are primarily government funded. Assistive Technology is only one of the 13 programs we offer consumers in San Diego and Riverside County.
Disability is not a fanciful topic; a trip to the moon is. Access to Independence is a grassroots organization that has used Adobe InDesign software in its efforts to bring inspiration, imagination and whimsy to our vision, but none so effectively as this Americans with Disability Act poster demonstrating Assistive Technology(AT).
Mark Carlson, our Assistive Technology Advocate, was a graphic artist before his disability left him legally blind and partially deaf. Adobe software has been Mark's voice, eyes, and ears for more than 8 years, as he visually conveys the mission of Access to Independence through his artful incorporation of graphics with a disability message. Mark puts assistive technology into practice each day using a variety of assistive technology tools in conjunction with Adobe software to create the message. The message is the magic that has yielded a seventy-percent increase in the number of people we have reached over the past year; without our Adobe products, there is no message or magic - thank you Adobe and TechSoup!
