Impact Essay

Hands for Hope, Founded in 2000 has had a website that lacked structure and did not represent the impact the organization was making on the community. In November 2008, Volunteer Music Instructor Stafford Floyd decided to contribute many hours to creating a brand new website. His Music expertise did not lend itself to Adobe Dreamweaver or Flash and he had limited knowledge in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator but he was determined that he could create a website that shows the transformational power of this program for at risk youth. With the help of one of the Hands for Hope students and a former young instructor who had created the original Website in Adobe Flash. He set out to help Hands for Hope compete with other After School Programs. Funders and Donors alike can now see pictures and information about the programs and events. We are currently adding donation capabilities as well.

The student who assisted with this project is one of many underprivileged, undeserved, at risk youth that Hands for Hope engages daily with the following programs

entrepreneur.

TEEN

The Teen Program was started this year to encourage teens ages 15-19 to continue their journey
with life skills courses such as leadership, mentorship, environment, driver safety, financial literacy,
and the main course “College and Career Preparation” in a 10-12 week workshop series. They are
also given the option to take advanced music, cooking art and photography classes.

Hands for Hope was able to recommend a scholarship for this student to a Private Local High School where he then had classes in Adobe Dreameaver and was able to help create the wonderful new website with this long time volunteer. Hands for Hope is grateful to Our Volunteers, Students and to Adobe for the discounted donation of Adobe Creative Suite 2 and Macromedia Studio 8 which we purchased through Techsoup.

Great organization and a well written essay, thanks for sharing this with us all. one quick pointer about the URL's listed on the page: if you don't add the "http://" they don't open to your page, I just found that out myself and thought I would let you know so you could change it on here so your links will work.
