Question 1
The Before: What was the challenge, issue or problem your organization was facing? Or, what was the opportunity you were not able to take advantage of before you put a technology solution in place?

Answer: 1. The before challenge was how to get the word out about our non-profit. These products have help us build news letters, brochures, volunteer data bases, create emails as well as snail mailings, event posters, fund raising handouts and keep in touch with donors, volunteers, new members as well as keeping our costs at a minimum level. Without these products the net working we have done would not have been possible. It has allowed a young non-profit to get in touch with select groups so we can target fund raising groups who would support our cause.

Question 2
What Microsoft software have you used/are you using in your organization to more effectively engage your beneficiaries, donors and/or volunteers and/or to make a difference in your community?

Answer: Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 (Includes any of the following: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, OneNote, Outlook, and Word)
Other:

Question 3
The After: How have these Microsoft products allowed you to engage your stakeholders more efficiently or effectively to make a difference in your community?

Answer: 3. We’re in touch with our community and other non-profits and target groups on a regular basis. We work with our humane society to help with the “Dogs in Prison” program here in Walla Walla. Through this program, the humane society and our informational system has been able to get over 30 trained dogs adopted into forever homes. (I’m the volunteer trainer at the prison). This program has had a huge positive effect on the community, the inmates and the dogs. We have helped bring more animal awareness to the community thru this program, educational classes on animal issues at the Community College and the Parks Dept here in Walla Walla. We’ve just added a proactive program to help seniors feed their pets so they don’t have to give their pets up in these hard economic times.

Question 4
What about these products (the features or the way you used them) made them particularly helpful in enabling your organization to expand and improve upon its community impact?

Answer: 4. By using these products to canvas a large area with little cost has had a great impact on how we let the community know what we are doing and how they can help. These products are widely used by a majority of our clients, members and volunteers and we know when we make event flyers, brochures and email letters, we are communicating with the most up to date systems so others can read and respond to us. In this way, we can connect with other rescue groups to help us when we have specific needs or wants having to with unwanted or abused animals and the prison dogs. The community knows we work with all domestic animals not just cats and dogs through the use of these media products.

Question 5
Please provide any examples, stories or data that illustrate the difference the use of Microsoft software has enabled you to make (i.e., # of new clients reached, new program added, increased dollars raised, increased volunteers, etc.

Answer: 5. We’ve increased our donor base each year which means we’ve increased our donations. This enables us to help clients with housing & care for more unwanted pets. We have impacted our community by working with other organizations & providing educational classes on animal issues, dog training classes, adding programs needed in our community such as volunteering to train the dogs in prison, supplying food for seniors & helping find foster homes. Through this technology our non-profit has been in our local newspapers, radios, nation magazines, internet radio, websites and linking websites and email communication. All these forms of communication have help bring attention to our community and our organization and what we’re doing here to help animals and people
