Awards

One winning organization in each of the three categories will be awarded a $5,000 cash grant plus $25,000 in donated Microsoft product.

If there are three or fewer submissions in any of the three categories, Microsoft and TechSoup reserve the right to eliminate that category and reassign the entries and reallocate awards to the remaining categories as appropriate.

Awards are made to organizations, and not to any individual. Prize transfers to individuals or other organizations are not permitted.

How Entries Will Be Judged

The judging of submissions will be conducted in two rounds.

  1. The first round of judging will be performed by a community that includes (but is not limited to) any individual from Microsoft donation recipients, TechSoup or Microsoft and any of those individuals’ friends, family or contacts. This round of community judging will open for participation on May 30, 2009 and will close on June 8, 12:00 Noon PST 2009. This community will select the top 10% from each category to move onto the final round of judging.
  2. The second round of judging will be performed by a panel of judges comprised of representatives from Microsoft and TechSoup. The final winners will be selected by this panel.

The panel’s judging criteria will be based on the demonstrated impact as conveyed in the impact story and any supporting work(s). Impact stories will be evaluated based on how well they convey the impact and benefit that Microsoft technologies have had on the organization, its mission and/or its constituency.

Decision of the judges is final in all matters relating to this Contest.
