Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
The TnWS is a statewide, non profit, all volunteer organization. The TnWS was formed with the purpose of elevating the stature of watercolor and educating the public about watermedia as an important creative, permanent painting medium. We encourage the study of watermedia by art students and support all the visual arts. The promotion of the 2010 Exhibition required several pieces. One of the most important of which was a 44 page, four color catalogue; a 2 color brochure and the makeover of the web site. All were created with CS3. The project furthers the education of the public about the importance of art.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
There is no other statewide effort to engage the public in art. The catalogue is a wonderful example of the support that businesses, corporations, foundations, friends and volunteers can garner to support TnWS efforts to expose the public to examples of art created by locals.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
The catalogues and brochures will be distributed statewide. The exhibition, with artist commentaries, will be up at the Chattanooga Community College until the end of June and will travel the state until the end of the year.
