Stevens Point Area YMCA
City & State:
Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
This is one of six in a series of posters that we used for our Strong Kids campaign this year. This poster represents how the YMCA impacts and influences everyone who steps foot through our facility. Not only does the YMCA influence how you grow by learning swimming skills or improving your fitness, you learn core values as well such as respect, responsibility, caring and honesty. Our marketing materials for this campaign are innovative because we used pictures from our facility and our members. We also used experiences and testimonials from participants of this program and we explain how being a part of our Strong Kids program really impacts and inspires everyone in our community.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
Every year we raise money for our Strong Kids campaign so we can give financial assistance so that no one is denied membership or program participation. Our goal this year is to raise $200,000.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
When you are involved with this great community, you start to really believe in this cause. We kicked off our campaign on March 7, 2010 with our all staff meeting. At this meeting alone, our employees raised over $14,000. With our community support, so far we have raised over $150,000. In 2009, we helped over 4,898 individuals experience the positive effects of YMCA programs and activities. We hope to grow and increase the amount of help we can extend to our community.
