Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
This creative piece is a book that was designed at the end of our program year to highlight the girls that we serve and their involvement in the programs. It is innovative because it brings all our leadership programs together in one design and under one cover to highlight the accomplishments of girls and to show our sponsors how their money was spent.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
In a society where there is so much negativity about girls and their choices, we wanted to design a creative piece that would highlight girls in a positive light, to show society that girls, with the help of mentors, can learn to develop and maximize their potential so that they may lead productive lives. It is amazing how it helps to increase their self confidence and self esteem. In this creative piece, we:  Give a voice to their struggles and aspirations, improving their situation to enhance their lives and reach their potential.  Expand their horizon by helping to navigate their journey to womanhood, channeling their growth in a positive direction to expand opportunities.  Provide education to achieve economic empowerment and well being.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
This submission helps us to solve the problems that girls face by helping them, their parents, the sponsors, and future participants see what can happen when we all work together toward a common goal. It is a great self-esteem builder to motivate girls to higher levels. It is also a great marketing tool for recruiting and funding.
