imagine MORE

City & State:
Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
"imagine MORE" is an accordian fold brochure used to educate the public on changes the Katonah Museum of Art (KMA) is proposing to its building and grounds. The new changes will expand the outdoor spaces, will reduce the museum's carbon footprint, and make the grounds and galleries physically accessible to all visitors. This brochure shows, in an exciting way, how the alterations will transform the museum experience for visitors.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
The Katonah Museum of Art is bursting at the seams with its ambitious programs, exhibitions, educational collaborations, and public events. The 20-year-old building is in need of repair and its climate control system requires an upgrade. And so the KMA is "imagining More." The award-winning architectural firm of Weiss/Manfredi has designed new outdoor sculpture galleries that will be open to the public and visible to all who drive or walk by the KMA, creating an inviting cultural landscape for visitors of all ages. The grounds will be enhanced by planting indigenous trees, shrubs, and meadow grasses. Artists will collaborate in all aspects of the design.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
The Katonah Museum of Art is able to use this brochure in a very flexible way. It is visually appealing for potential funders, and also simple enough to let the general public know how the future is being imagined. This brochure will be used to "brand" a fund raising campaign in the future.
