This piece, a promotional flyer created in Adobe CS Photoshop, announces the kickoff of the Green Building Initiative for Habitat for Humanity of Matthews, North Carolina. This flyer has been used to promote the initiative in such settings as Earth Day festivals, preliminary partnership meetings, volunteer recruitment events, and the like.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
Although “green building” has become an increasingly popular catchphrase within the construction industry, the general public still lacks an in-depth understanding of the concept. Under these circumstances, Habitat for Humanity of Matthews has had trouble helping the public to understand the benefits that sustainable construction will provide to low-income home buyers.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
This flyer helps a broad audience to easily understand not only the environmental benefits of the Green Building Initiative, but also how a “green” home contributes to a sustainable future for Habitat home buyers and their families. This has helped the affiliate to inspire interest in the initiative from several fronts, including new volunteers and monetary sponsors, all of which are necessary to advance the overall impact of the initiative.
