Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
Web development in and of itself is not innovative. Combining the impending loss of a website with the ongoing need to communicate with donors is definitely essential and perhaps innovative. Counting on one person within your organization to embrace the new technology (MAC, Adobe CS3/4, other resources) to launch a new website at a new URL is definitely innovative. The following programs were used on this project: Dw, Ps, Fl, Ai,Fw, Acrobat 9 Pro, BannerZest.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
Our original webiste, www.ftccanada.org was parked on another web platform in the U.S.. Making changes, creating updates, adding new pages, posting news, and sharing partnerships was proving costly for our head office. Ultimately we had no control over our branding and more negatively our growth on the web. However, it was the absence of a Canadian donor payment platform able to receive and process funds in Canadian dollars that hindered progress most significantly.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
Moving our content off of www.ftccanada..org and onto www.ftccanada.ca has: 1. Facilitated the ongoing updating of programs and projects, linking our site to our blog and adding video and social media; 2. Provided an updated, current look and feel including refreshed branding; 3. Impacted our bottom-line growth: our donations are 5 times what they were prior to quarter one (June-August 2009).
