Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
Our entry is an advertising flyer and was created to publicize our largest fundraising event of the year, an upscale golf tournament. We used Adobe software to lay a ghost image of our organization, Friends Forever’s, Logo over a familiar image of the golf course that the tournament would be played at. This excited golfers and members by showing them the prestigious golf course as well as allowing them to recognize that the event would be raising money for Friends Forever’s world peace efforts. Friends Forever must conserve resources; therefore being able to create this professional advertisement quickly with Adobe software was invaluable. The advertisement has already allowed Friends Forever to raise sponsorship and attract golf teams to the event.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
Since 1986, Friends Forever, a grassroots organization aimed at fostering world peace has been working with youth in Israel and Northern Ireland to build lifelong friendships through cross-community workshops and after school programs. Our program unites young people from conflicting backgrounds teaching them to be friends by showing them the similarities and shared interests between their cultures. Each year students from these conflict torn areas undergo a rigorous application process in order to participate in the year long team building program called Life Raft. During Life Raft the youth travel to New England and then continue the program in their home countries. While in the United States these young leaders share the experience of traveling abroad, living together under one host family’s roof, attending public speaking opportunities and participating in community service projects as a team. This journey creates a lifelong bond of peace and understanding.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
Friends Forever is an organization that gives everything back to its programming. There is only one full time employee that works for Friends Forever and everyone else is a volunteer. Resources are limited and therefore we could not afford a graphic designer to create this advertisement for us. Our Adobe products allowed us to create a professional flyer that would attract the right audience to the event. As a result Friends Forever has already received a substantial amount of sponsorship for the summer event and is signing up golfers left and right. We expect to have our most successful golf tournament ever due largely to this piece of advertising.
