The Foothills Paper Vol 6 No 9

Organization Name:
The Foothills Paper
City & State:
Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
Our community newspaper is the only bi-weekly source of local information in the Foothills area of northeastern Los Angeles County. As opposed to other publications beholden to corporate interests or local political interests, The Foothills Paper is a (rare) non-profit newspaper and proactively seeks out community input and stories. We purposely hold space until the very last hours and minutes before deadline so that we can have timely coverage.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
The Foothills Paper, in this and every other issue, helps maintain interpersonal and intracommunity communication, helping to create a sense of local identity. With InDesign and Photoshop, we can quickly reformat the pages to accommodate breaking news and thus guarantee the timeliness and usefulness of our content.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
Our continuing commitment to providing breaking news, and a forum for the community, is an ongoing solution to a neverending problem -- the need for useful, accurate, timely, valuable information.
