Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
The Animal League of Green Valley website is our submission. The site introduces our rescued animals to the entire world in a special way, ie., each animal has a bio/writeup accompanied by three different photographic views. The site also introduces the Community to our outreach program for free animal Spay/Neuter procedures to qualifying individuals. It also advertises our Thrift Store to individuals looking for bargains on second hand items. Thrift Store sales support the feeding of our rescued animals.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
The main purpose of of this site is to find homes for rescued dogs and cats. In addition, the overpopulation of animals in the world is the reason we wanted to reach beyond the community of Green Valley to spread the word about the importance of managing the animal population. We realize we can't fix the world, but we can start by making a difference in our local community.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
Since the website was started in 2005, the animal adoptions have increased from 96 in 1995 to 703 in 2009.
