Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
The design piece submitted is an educational and awareness banner to promote Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area in the 10 parish area served. The banner is on a free standing retractable stand at 78” high and 31.5” wide. Alzheimer’s Services provides education and support programs in the following areas, teaching, caring and connecting. The banner is use the banner to market programs and services in health fairs, fundraising, education events to increase awareness to estimated 15,000 individuals diagnosed in the greater Baton Rouge area. Previously, the organization used varies marketing materials to market our programs such as, presentation boards, brochures, newsletters, and organizational media. We now have a large visual that is used as a tool to enhance marketing to population which is under served.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
As part of our mission we use 3 words to describe what services we provide. Teaching, Caring and Connecting are those three words. This banner visually demonstrates what teaching, caring and connecting represents. Alzheimer’s Services proposes to serve more families by increasing awareness through presentations, partnerships, health fairs, healthcare Advisory Boards, Senior Service providers, senior civic and social groups awareness events and all educational programming. These events average up to ten to twenty times per month, in popular health fair months and that are attended by hundreds of participants. Often the remote parish sites are not equipped with the technology resources necessary to make multi-media enhanced presentations. As more health fairs occur in the months of September, October, and November (Alzheimer’s Awareness month) the banner will be used as a tool to market programs and services.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
By creating the banner we are able to show the community our 3 words that describe what we are about. It is important to our mission that the community knows these 3 areas which we serve. The banner highlights our mission and draws people to visual representation of who we are. Through use of the banner we have reached more families in helping improve their lives of coping with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder. Through increased awareness our organization will reach families who may not have received our services. The goal of Alzheimer’s Services is to connect families with the resources, educational programs, and support services available to help them cope with this devastating disease.
