- Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
- Our creative piece is an image that we created for students to do research on airplane parts. Students use CAD software to design and build an airplane. Before designing the airplane, students work in small teams to research airplane parts. The posters are innovative because they bring real life, creativity, and collaborative work into the curriculum.
- What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
- The posters address the issue of making the research portion of this lesson exciting and visually stimulating for students. The posters needed to engage students and make the research independent for a fourth grade level.
- How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
- Students love using the posters. They are able to review information they have learned to decide on airplane parts for their design. The posters give students confidence to share their ideas and information in a small group and large group setting.
