Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
Our organization is volunteer-driven. Our volunteers work on community projects and any of the programmatic promotional projects related to them. As such, websites and others are created by our volunteers. This piece was part of our "rebranding" our organization's 32-year old neighborhood volunteer-run festival. The old website was outdated and antiquated and was loaded up with jpgs and clip art as was our regular festival artwork. Our volunteer graphic design team and also some very talented interns worked together to come together and rebrand the logos of the festival from a two color black and purple clip-art like jpg to a funkier trendier logo along with complimenting collateral promotional materials and website design.
What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
Our past logos, colors and website were outdated. They did not represent the "faces" of our festival - a multiculturally diverse urban and indie crowd.
How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
Our marketing materials and website meet our young professional volunteers and immediate community we serve giving us a "face lift" and much needed new look to continue volunteering, making our events and festival successful and making our small indie struggling commercial corridor a destination location. Our site looks hip, trendy, funky reflecting the culture of the neighborhood.
