- Describe your creative piece – what is it and what has it been used for, and why is it innovative?
- We raised funds to celebrate our 10th year anniversary as a social service agency. We chose as a theme for the evening "We Appreciate You" in order to recognize all those who had made contributions of time, money and other support to enable our success as an agency. We saved a good bit of money by designing and printing our own handout for the event.
- What issue or problem were you working to address with this piece?
- Public awareness in the greater Nashville community of the mission and work being done by our agency. We had become a successful agency but needed to raise awareness to the fact that we were here in order to gain further support for the mission of the agency is serving adults with mental retardation.
- How has your submission successfully impacted your organization’s ability to solve this issue/problem?
- We have gained donations from people who knew nothing about us before this event. We have gained Board members as well because of the exposure this celebration provided. Certainly it has helped us in furthering the mission of the agency. We are now handling a number of referrals from the announced closure of the state Developmental Center in Nashville.
